Admissions Consultation 2027–2028

Overview

St. George’s Church of England Primary School is consulting on its proposed admissions arrangements for the 2027–2028 academic year. As part of our statutory duties under the School Admissions Code (1 September 2021), we must consult when making significant changes to our admissions criteria.

For 2027–2028, we are proposing substantial changes to our oversubscription criteria to ensure our admissions arrangements remain inclusive, transparent and aligned with updated Diocesan guidance.

The consultation runs from Monday 24 November 2025 to Monday 5 January 2026.

Summary of Proposed Change

We are proposing the following changes to our admissions criteria:

  • Removal of all church attendance-based criteria
(Previously included as Priority 3 and Priority 5)
  • Removal of the Supplementary Information Form (SIF)
(No additional documentation will be required from parents)
  • New simplified oversubscription criteria
    Prioritising:
    1. Looked after and previously looked after children
    2. Siblings
    3. Distance from home to school

These revisions bring our admissions process fully in line with the Birmingham Diocesan Board of Education Guidance (February 2024) and ensure that our policy best reflects our Christian vision of serving the whole community with openness and fairness.

Consultation Period

  • Start date: Monday 24 November 2025
  • Closing date: Monday 5 January 2026

Birmingham City Council’s School Admissions and Fair Access Service is coordinating the consultation process on our behalf.
